This rule is an exception to 1.1.53. The अनेकाल् and शित् in the class specified by षष्ठी of the rule act on the स्थान (not अन्त्य or आदि). अनेकाल् and शित् are defined by other sutras. An example of अनेकाल् is अस्तेर्भूः while those of शित् are जश्शसो शिः, इदम् इश् etc.
