1.2.26 रलो व्युपधाद्धलादेः संश्च

उपधा (penultimate position) of इ and उ is called व्युपधा. कित् is not applicable at आदि of हल्, अन्त of रल् or at व्युपधा. For example, द्योतित्वा when no कित् and द्युतित्वा when there is कित्.
