हलन्त verb with श्ना suffix unergo शानच् when before हि suffix (the शकार and चकार undergo इत्). For example, मुष् श्ना सिप् - मुष् श्ना हि - मुष् शानच् हि - मुष् आन हि - मुषान ( अतो हेः ) - मुषाण. Notice that when there is no हलन्त e.g. in क्री, the presence of हि doesn't result in शानच्. For example, क्री श्ना हि - क्रीनीहि (ई हल्यधोः).
