3.1.11 कर्त्तुः क्यङ् सलोपश्च

imitation-indicating सुबन्त has क्यङ्-suffix as the स of स-ending words undergoes लोप. Note also that क् ङ् of क्यङ् is इत् and results in आत्मनेपद. For example, (fool) imitates a pundit - पण्डित इवाचारति - पण्डितायते.
